O God of peace, who has taught us that in returning and
rest we shall be saved, in quietness and confidence shall be
our strength: By the might of your Spirit lift us, we pray,
to your presence, where we may be still and know that you
art God; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Join us on Wednesdays at noon for this peaceful prayer service. The gathering begins with a half hour liturgy from the book “Prayer For All Seasons." Then, the group sits in silence together for a period of restful and nourishing centering prayer. People can choose to stay for the silent meditation or leave after the prayer service. Those unfamiliar with centering prayer or meditation will have the opportunity to learn, so all are welcome.
The reason this prayer group ended up naming itself the Pocket of Peace is because that is exactly what it is! If you haven’t yet experienced this gathering, you may find it to be a very welcome addition to your busy week. Beginning on Wednesday, May 10, this group will be taking the place of our weekday Eucharist for a while, and we'll see how it goes.
We gather in the choir area in the front of the church (instead of downstairs, where we had the Eucharist). Enter either from the rear or main entrance of the church. For more information contact Pat Campbell, or Judy Skeels.
