St James Invites Keene Participation in March for Voting Rights

***Please Note: Due to weather, the march is rescheduled to Sunday, March 2, 1-3***

Our native son, Jonathan Daniels, devoted his life to the cause of voting rights.  Some members of St. James Episcopal Church are planning to attend the March for Voting Rights that is scheduled on April 2 in Concord.  St. James invites citizens of Keene to join them to create a City of Keene presence at the march in Jonathan Daniels’ honor.  The 1.2 mile march through downtown Concord will bring together hundreds of concerned citizens and numerous advocacy organizations dedicated to our democracy. Co-sponsors include: American Civil Liberties Union/NH; America Votes; American Friends Service Committee/NH; Granite State Progress; League of Women Voters/NH; NH Peace Action; Veterans For Peace/NH; NH Unites for Humanity; Liberty Lobby LLC; League of Conservation Voters; NH Independent Voters; NH Citizen's Alliance and The Resistance Seacoast. After the walk, there will be a Rally at the State House featuring students, veterans, and other leaders. Participants will meet at Concord High School (parking there) at 1PM.  The march through Concord begins at 1:30 and the rally with speakers at the state house begins at 2.  Free Ben & Jerry’s ice cream will be served.

If you would like to join a carpool, please email Elsa Worth.  We could also use a Keene banner for the march - please let her know if you can volunteer to make one.

You can read Derek's blog post about why he feels called to take part in this march HERE.
