Support Niambi Mercado in the Annual“Out of Darkness Walk”

Who:

Niambi Mercado, Graduate Candidate at Antioch University of New England in the Environmental Studies Advocacy for Social Justice and Sustainability program. (and angelic choir member in the St. James choir!)

What:

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s sixteen mile all night Out of Darkness Walk fundraiser event.

Where:

Washington D.C.

When:

June 17th, 2017

Why:

I have, in the past, attempted to end my life. Thanks to my faith, friends, and family I am alive today.

I walk to show my support for my priest Elsa Worth and her family as they openly mourn the loss of their daughter CarlEmelia. They inspire me to no longer hide from my truth or be ashamed of my past.

I walk as a representative of the St. James congregation who all want to support the Worth family during this painful transition.

I walk in honor of CarlEmelia.

I walk for me.
