Outdoor Summer Worship
Trying a new location in 2025
St. James gets grounded and refreshed every summer by worshipping outside instead of in our building whenever possible. This year, we plan to set up at the Butterfly Park on Marlboro Street, right next door to Home Health Care. We are welcome to park in HCS’s parking lot, and we’ll set up our space in the part of the park furthest from the street.
We decided to try this new location because we’re hoping it will be quieter than Fuller Park, with its many motorcycles coming off of Route 9. Let’s see if it is quieter. Unfortunately, like Fuller Park, there are no bathroom facilities at the Butterfly Park, so please plan accordingly. The park is very level and well kept, and you can park very close in the parking lot. There is, however, a slight rise getting into the park from the parking lot, but we hope it will be pretty navigable for most people.
Bring your own lawn chair (and bug spray if it’s the season) and join us on the grass under the shade of some beautiful trees for summer worship. We will not be setting up coffee or snacks at the park this year, but those who’d like to share a time of coffee and conversation will gather at a local coffee shop after the service.
If there will be rain, or if it is brutally hot, a decision will be made by 6pm on Saturday night to move the service indoors. Please subscribe to our eNews to be added to our eNews list and watch for the Saturday evening edition for this news. In the case of extreme heat, we are now able to worship in the Jonathan Daniels Room, cooled by our new mini splits
